Bard to the Bone is an epic LitRPG where our protagonist finds himself trapped in a game world after the ill-considered decision to play as a Bard. Armed with just his wits and a lute, he’ll have to face down demonic bosses, learn dangerous magics, take down a tyrant, and conquer the world.

Having launched several successful book titles, Bard to the Bone is the first title under the Cid Banks pen name, with myself leading story development and primary writing. The initial stages of the project included outlining for three different books within the LitRPG genre. With stories focused around characters in game worlds and utilizing game systems, my background in game development gave me an opportunity to tell a unique story. Story editors and proofreaders were hired to streamline the process.
As with any new pen name, an effective marketing strategy and cover are crucial to trend on Amazon. The fully illustrated cover was done by myself, illustrating the three main characters and conveying the basic premise of the genre. A fully illustrated cover is the norm for the genre, and I decided to focus the marketing strategy on similarly illustrated ads for consistent branding. With dozens of ads on Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and Google, the book achieved strong CPC and CTR targets. It received positive reviews on Amazon and praise from LitRPG fans for its originality and character development, giving me hope for additional titles from this pen name.
